Victoria Fresh started operations at a small tree nursery by the shores of a local stream and developed mainly seedlings of a limited number of fruits, medicinal herbs and some indigenous trees for planting in one season of the year, even though the area has two planting seasons (March to June and November to December).
The organization then identified a much larger and easily accessible location on the Kisumu-Ahero road where it is now located. This was necessitated a growing number of stakeholders that expressed the willingness to participate and supports the activities of Victoria Fresh, namely, environmental conservation, promotion of good health and creation of food security in the community.
The effects of climate change have become more apparent at the grassroots as people experience frequent floods and extreme dry weather that destroys homes and sources of livelihood in the same year. This has been the main driver of the interest by people at the village level in the activities of Victoria Fresh. At Victoria Fresh we believe that together we can make a difference.
Implementation partners include: Women Groups, Self Help Societies, Community Based Organizations, Cooperative Societies, Welfare Societies, Educational Institutions, Independent tree Nurseries and Government Agencies.
